Nuts contain healthy fats that in moderation can help your body to reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) levels. They also have many beneficial vitamins and minerals including copper, magnesium, and more! Most of these work to eliminate free radicals in your body, reducing the risk of cancer. Toasted nuts are soooooo simple and much tastier than raw ones! I love to toast a whole bag and keep them around to use in salads, on yogurt and sundaes, in muffins and bread, the possibilities are endless!!! Here’s how:
your favorite nut (my favs are almonds, walnuts, and pecans)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Take your favorite nut or combination and spread them in a thin layer on a cookie sheet. Place in the oven and toast for approximately 10-12 minutes or until golden. Check frequently because nuts will burn quickly! Once cool, place in an air tight container and enjoy! If you do not plan to use them up within about 2-3 months or you are buying in bulk, you can freeze them and they will last much longer. I typically toast large batches and freeze some of them. They will last up to a year in the freezer!
